Yeadon Westfield Junior School

"Josh showed his vast years of experience and achieved amazing results with all our children. He really fit in well within our school community"

The Brief

Yeadon Westfield Junior School identified a group of students aged 3-6 who were struggling with concentration and were classified as high priority for additional support.

These children were also facing significant challenges in their ability to learn within a traditional classroom setting. Some of them displayed aggressive and challenging behaviours The school sought external support to provide tailored interventions that complemented their existing pastoral care. JB Primary Support was engaged to offer tailored interventions to help them succeed in school.

The Outcome

Over the course of 6 weeks, I worked closely with each student, recognising their unique needs and providing one-on-one support to help them navigate their educational environment. My goal was to ensure that these children could make the most of their time in school, whether by staying engaged in the classroom or participating in alternative learning activities designed to meet their individual needs. This the the main focus of my in-school support services.

From my expertise and guidance, we were able to achieve:

  • Enhanced Classroom Engagement- For many of these children, remaining in the classroom was achievable with the right support. By integrating my bespoke sports programs into their routine, I was able to provide them with a healthy outlet for self-expression. As a result, several of the children were able to complete classroom tasks, stay engaged with their peers, and continue accessing education from their teachers.
  • Improved emotional well-being– With this additional support and extra-curricular activities for self-expression, not only did I help them manage their emotions but also improved their overall mental health and well-being.
  • Personalised Alternative Learning– For children exhibiting more severe behaviours, it was necessary to create alternative learning opportunities outside the classroom to ensure the safety and well-being of all students. Through my tailored sports and extracurricular activities, I was able to design personalised educational experiences that met these children’s specific needs while still fostering their development and growth.
  • Long term positive impact– By combining my expertise with a compassionate, child-centred approach, I was able to make a meaningful impact on the lives of these children. This work not only supported their educational journey but also helped build a foundation for improved behaviour, emotional regulation, and a more positive school experience.
